Books-By-Mail Service
For those who are not able to visit us in person at our library,
we provide a Books-By-Mail (BBM) service. Anyone who has a library
card can use the BBM service.
You can search for book titles through the Hawai´i State Public
Library System’s public access catalog [to http://librarieshawaii.org/catalog/index.html]
or the Native Hawaiian Library’s online catalog [to I-A].
You may order your books by mail or by phone (808) 535-1360 on
O’ahu, or 1-800-682-0525 on the Neighbor Islands. You may
also e-mail your request to us at library@alulike.org
We will mail you the books that you request. When finished using
the library materials, you can return them to us or to any public
library branch by the due date, and then e-mail or call us to
let us know that you have returned them. Or you can simply send
the
books back to us in the same envelope, free of charge. Just make
sure that you pull out your address card from the plastic pocket
on the envelope and put it inside the envelope. After you have
removed your address card, our library’s address card will
show through the plastic on the outside of the envelope for sending
the books back to us for free.
If you have any questions about our Books-By-Mail service or any
other part of the Native Hawaiian Library, please call (808) 535-1360,
or e-mail library@alulike.org.
Book Deposit Service
The Book Deposit Service allows schools and other educational agencies
to borrow large numbers of our books to keep at their locations
for an extended period of time for circulation to their students.
The borrowing school/agency must execute a Loan Agreement with
us, providing the address and phone number of the contact/responsible
person, and specifying the terms of the loan. The borrowing school/agency
is required to report monthly circulation statistics to the Native
Hawaiian Library.
